Gulfcoast South AHEC is celebrating the end of its first 25 years of service in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties. The AHEC program was developed by Congress in 1971 to recruit, train and retain a health professions workforce committed to underserved populations. As the AHEC system has grown and now in its 50th Year, it is ever changing to meet the needs of the communities it serves, however, one thing has never changed – the focus on medically underserved populations.
We invite you to join us for this milestone anniversary event! We will celebrate our history, the success of our participants, and our amazing partners and supporters. This will be an outdoor celebration with appropriate safety protocols in place. Light bites and refreshments will be served!
